Agricultural Greenhouses
The Sultanate of Oman is very interested in the field of agriculture, which is considered an integral part of the Sultanate’s civilization. It has received wide interest from both the government and the citizen.
Since the sultanate is characterized by a semi-arid climate, it has sought to apply protected agriculture to provide different environments for growing crops in an environment that helps their growth. These reserves are made of glass because it controls temperature, humidity and ventilation for plants. Metal and plastic are also used to build these houses.
The Sultanate encourages Omani farmers to build such houses and has initiated research, studies and projects that have benefited the Omani citizen, and is also keen to teach them how to deal with greenhouses in terms of irrigation, fertilization and control of insects and diseases harmful to plants.
These houses are found in the Wilayat of Mahdah as well as Al Dhahirah and other houses or reserves in Oman. The goal of the Ministry of Agriculture and fisheries is to increase agricultural productivity and cover local production at the highest estimate.
